BYD Sealion 05 EV Debuts in China

BYD has launched the Sealion 05 EV in China, expanding its Ocean series with this all-electric compact crossover.

Aimed at overseas markets, the Sealion lineup includes the Sealion 07 EV, which has already entered multiple international markets and been showcased in several regions, including Nepal. With its growing presence, BYD continues to strengthen its global footprint in the EV segment.

Designed as a mass-market electric SUV, the Sealion 05 EV boasts a CLTC-rated range of up to 520 km. It is equipped with BYD’s "God’s Eye" C intelligent driving system, enhancing safety and driving convenience.

Built on the advanced e-Platform 3.0 Evo, the Sealion 05 EV measures 4,520 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,630 mm in height, with a 2,720 mm wheelbase. The vehicle also offers practical and premium features, including a 110-liter front trunk, a built-in refrigerator, and a generous 600-liter rear trunk, which expands to 1,460 liters when the rear seats are folded, ensuring ample storage capacity for various needs.

On the performance front, the Sealion 05 EV comes with a rear-wheel-drive setup powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The entry-level variant produces 140 kW of peak power and 330 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 7.6 seconds. Higher trims feature a more powerful 160 kW motor while maintaining the same torque output, reducing the 0–100 km/h time to 7.2 seconds.
